THE SEVENTIES

I only knew you for that last half of the decade that will always be one remembered as "you had to be there"....  By 1980 I knew you as well as I do now.  How could you not know someone you were with all the time, shared the same ideals and a gut feeling that this person is in it with you for life?
I may be naive but, I'm pretty sure any story we could tell about our escapades in the '70's would shock most people.  I've since gathered that the majority didn't come close to doing what we did.  The stories are best not put into writing for obvious reasons.  They will forever be in our hearts and minds.  Considering what these stories are, it is amazing that we still have hearts and minds.

Of course the '70's will be remembered as a time of graduations, marriages, friendships and the metamorphosis from teenagers to adults.  And, in the case of you and Linda.....children.
It was the time of great music, gas guzzling cars, shag carpet and leisure suits.  We never dreamed that in our lifetime we would have phones other than the push button ones.  We had no idea that one we would one day have computers in our homes, listen to hours of music without a turntable or cassette and, that we would be able to lock a car door without a key.
We were there when shopping malls began.  We had never heard of Wal-Mart or Target.  There were hardware stores instead of Lowe's and Home Depot.  We could smoke anywhere we pleased.  We could hug a loved one goodbye the moment they stepped on a plane.  The only movies we saw were at theatre.  We had never tasted Mexican food.

I think this was the perfect decade to make the transition from "wild and crazy" to "calmed down a bit".
